Consort Community Health Centre reopens after upgrades
June 8, 2011
CONSORT — The Consort Community Health Centre reopens today following the completion of significant facility upgrades.
Programs and services that were temporarily located at the Consort Hospital during renovations are now back in the community health centre, including public health, mental health, home care, Alberta Aids to Daily Living, speech language pathology and rehabilitation.
“We are very excited to have the Consort Community Health Centre open its doors again,” says Tracy Sommerfeld, Executive Director, Allied Health and Rural Hospitals, for the Central Zone of Alberta Health Services (AHS).
“And I can’t thank the community and staff enough for their cooperation and flexibility as we worked to improve our facility.”
The 18-year-old facility was closed for almost a year as upgrades were made to mechanical systems, drainage systems and flooring. The changes are expected to enhance both the patient experience, as well as patient and staff safety.
The Consort Community Health Centre, which serves a community of about 800 people, is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
“The reopening of the Consort Community Health Centre is great news for local residents,” says Jack Hayden, MLA, Drumheller-Stettler, and Minister of Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development. “The Government of Alberta is committed to investing in health care infrastructure in communities across the province. The upgrades at the Consort health centre will ensure the facility continues to be a hub for health care delivery in the community for years to come, so local residents can access the services they need close to home.”
Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than 3.7 million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
