CALGARY — To support patients and their families undergoing cancer treatment, Alberta Health Services (AHS) offers a variety of education sessions, including classes, that explain treatments and related conditions.
Radiation Therapy — What You Need to Know about Treatment
Attend this presentation to learn how radiation therapy works to treat cancer. Learn important facts about radiation and ask questions and get answers from a certified radiation therapist.
When: This 90-minute session is offered Fridays at 10:30 a.m.
Where: Auditorium – Main Floor of Tom Baker Cancer Centre

Cost: Free.
Registration: No pre-registration is required.
Preparing for Chemotherapy
This session will help you understand what you can expect during chemotherapy, how to prepare and how to cope well through treatments.
When: This 90-minute session is offered Mondays and Fridays at 2 p.m.
Where: Auditorium – Main Floor of Tom Baker Cancer Centre

Cost: Free.

Lymphedema
Cancer and cancer treatments can cause lymphedema (swelling due to an impaired lymphatic system). Attend this workshop where rehabilitation professionals will explain how to minimize the risk and what treatments are available.
When: 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
