AHS offers day-long prenatal class for moms and partners

January 16, 2012

HIGH PRAIRIE – Alberta Health Services (AHS) is offering a prenatal class for expectant mothers and their partners on Jan. 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the High Prairie Health Complex.

An AHS public health nurse leads the class, which addresses issues related to pregnancy, labour and delivery, and care of a newborn.

Please call early as pre-registration is required. Phone 780-523-6450 to register or to obtain more information. The cost is $20 per couple. The Prairie River Community Education Council subsidizes some of the cost of the class.

Increasing programs to support healthy births is among the goals outlined in the 5-Year Health Action Plan, jointly developed by the Government of Alberta and AHS, and supported by the province’s stable, 5-year funding.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than 3.7 million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
