Environmental Public Health
Who We Are
The Environmental Public Health Department of Alberta Health Services helps to provide, protect and promote a healthy environment.
What We Do
Public Health Inspectors who work for the department, inspect public places such as:
- Restaurants
- Swimming pools
- Tattooing and piercing shops
- Day cares
- Rental housing
- Public beaches
They teach the public how to keep places safe and make sure that laws, such as the Public Health Act, are being followed. Public Health Inspectors also help to keep people and their environment healthy by answering complaints from the public. These complaints can be about the safety of public places such as rental housing, restaurants and nail salons or because someone got sick from food or unsafe drinking water.
